So a few catch up items today with regard to Claudia and Duncan:
Favorite phrases:
Claudia: Yeah Baby! (Must be something she got from her teenage babysitters...)
Duncan: Oh! Not again! (This is said any time I tell him it's time to do something.)
& Hey! Wait a minute! (When he wants us to stop and really listen to what he is going to say.)
Eating:
Claudia goes through phases, she'll eat nonstop for days and still complain about being hungry, then she'll go days where she hardly nibbles anything.
Duncan has always been a *particular* eater. He eats only what he wants to eat. Fruits and veggies have always been a no-eater, and any meat other than chicken. He has however in recent weeks tried eating a red pepper (promptly spit it back out with "yuck!"), and actually ate a handful of green beans the other night! Shock! He also is showing some liking of hard boiled eggs from my salads. Guess I'll have to try boiling some at home. (anyone have a surefire way of boiling them without the yellow yolks turning green, and especially at high altitude????)
Outdoor activities:
Claudia has really improved her bike riding skills this summer. Nowhere near ready to get rid of the training wheels, but at least she is using the pedals, and can even pedal *up* our street (the uphill direction). She has also been complaining about her *kiddie* scooter, usually when out playing with the older kids on the block. Now she wants a motorized one. Ha! I told her she had to be ALOT older before she could have one of those.
Duncan loves riding the tricycle but has refused to try to use the pedals. Instead he uses he feet on the ground, reminding me a lot of the Flintstones style of driving. In the last week or so he has been trying to pedal on his own in the garage (which is nice and flat unlike the driveway and most of the street). After a couple of cycles though he gets frustrated and gives up. But hey, that's more than Claudia ever did for pedaling until she got her bicycle.
Painting in the dining room has commenced.
