After Waimea, we went to Shark's Cove at Papukea Beach Park. Still really rough, but the rocks form some nice little lagoon areas that are good for snorkeling and the kids had a great time playing in the rocks. They were also having a great time collecting sea shells, until Duncan discovered that some still had creatures in them. He went ballistic at that! The waves were amazing crashing out against the rocks, but was really calm at the beach. So we spent some time at Shark's Cove just wading, collecting shells, and seeing the fish that got washed up by the waves. And of course Dan had to go out on the large rocks for a picture.

Duncan even seemed to warm up to Kaitlin, they both shared a passion for running screaming every time the waves caused the water level to rise.

After Papukea we were about to give up. But there was one promising beach we wanted to try, Kahana Valley Beach. This is truly the place to take young kids. We were there later in the afternoon and it was practically deserted. And the water was so calm you would have thought you were at a lake. Check out these pictures.

And we made one stop at Mokolii Island to get a picture of "Chinaman's Hat". Dan saw it in a professional photo and wanted to see it before it got dark.

One last day, Day 11, left. Then I'll catch up on life back in the real world, including Claudia's 6th Birthday party at Chuck E Cheese.
Love,
